Recently Tom Purvis and I's GoPro HD came to my house from America via courier. We only had one chance to test out our pole system before the waves got pumping, but it seems that all the footage has turned out looking amazing. If things go smoothly over the next few days, you should be sitting in front of the computer, with a cup of tea, watching a clip i am constructing, by about thursday.

It was only last thursday, when a rather peculiar set of events were beginning to occur. Although it feels like months ago now.

Thursday: I drove to perth at 11.15am and arrived at 2.30pm, my mother and I checked in to our hotel, and decided to walk to Perth in the 44degree heat, to get something to eat. I ended up paying for our taxi home, and was relieved to get back to our air-conditioned room, where I watched Foxtel until i fell asleep at 10.30pm.

Friday: Mum and I went for a swim in the pool, before heading to Karrinyup Shopping Centre via trigg beach. Mum dropped me at Sam Molloy's house at 3.30pm and Trent drove Sam, Lewy, Cam and I to Margaret River. We arrived in Margaret River at 8.15pm, due to long-weekend traffic, and proceded to collapse on various beds and couches.

Saturday: We somehow managed to wake up at 6.30am and make our way down to Gas Bay. We were greeted with small, sand whipped peaks which we gave up on, after an hour or two. the boys then dropped me off at work on their way to cobbles and eventually mufflers. when they finally arrived home at 5.30pm, we remembered we had left Cam at Gas and we decided we should probably pick him up. On the way to pick up Cam, I heard many a tale of toob and beating, in what the boys had described as an "epic double-sesh".

Sunday: We had a small sleep-in on Sunday morning, so didn't get to the beach until 8.30am. We arrived at the wave just as a set was rolling through, and could hardly believe our eyes, so we suited up, ran down the beach, climbed over some rocks and jumped in. The boys were all surfing well and I was working the rangles, making sure nothing was missed. After that we surfed a beachie just around the corner that was full of potential, and lacked some size, but was a bunch of fun anyway. We unanimously voted to go check mufflers, but unfortunately it was also too small, so we drove to town to get a feed.

Monday: Today was March the 1st, 16 years ago to this day, a fat, smelly, crying baby was brought into the world by his mother. That babies' name was Tom Purvis. We decided it would only be fitting, to spend the day with him. We crammed into the boot and headed to Castles in Trent's Lux Surf. Some poo-licious fun was had there before it was time to head home. Some chilling out was had, until Trent finally decided if he didn't go home then, he would stay forever.

Hugh has been called into work so he can continue feeding his family. So we are showing you some of the goods from todays fun little wipeout session at river dawg. Recently James Purvis and I were at the skate park during the night...he went for a dogtown slide up a bank and landed awkwardly on his wrist. as a result his wrist is now fractured and he wears a fiberglass cast. now that he is unable to surf he happily squats on the beach and takes photos with the family camera.

he will be out of action for a few weeks so has set up a blog where he can display some of his better photos.

i was reading some stuff on the internet and came across this, a clip of some random dancing that was filmed on a 1000fps camera, and i thought you deserved to see it.

can you imagine filming Ryan Hardy at box while he spins into the barrel and flips out, using this camera,

and then selling the footage on ebay for $500 a pop?

that one clip, would have the ability to blow minds, and holes in wallets.

On Friday the EBB Pro was held at mouse traps in Yallingup. it was a good day for the locals with most of them progressing to the second round. the waves were small, but gave the pros a chance to flaunt their skills and fight for their right to get into the final rounds.

the Cadet boys heats and quarters were ran on saturday in big, onshore conditions at Injidup carparks. Tom Purvis managed to surf well enough to get to the semis and garantee his place in the state team and Lewy and George both progressed to seperate semi-finals. it appears that they will be fighting it out in the final for 1st place today, both with a 1st and 2nd result from the first two state titles. today the comp is being held at boneyards as well as the EBB Pro.

i will leave you with some eye candy from the last two days, courtesy of Jack Bunyan!

Herro yo. I came down on Thursday, I' ve been staying at hughs and I am going back Sunday arvo, on Thursday i had sick gas with tomic, luke (both from goldy) and jake throssell, who was shooting. It's Friday today and i surfed fun as chups box in the morning while hugh sat in the channel with his video device. It was uncrowded because everyone was at school so we were getting tonnes of waves. soo. im back from perth, and loving it! just in time for what "appears" to be some decent waves.

i just thought i would let you know that i have no frames or footage to show you at this point, but i do have a good story:

i drove to perth on wednesday night, got to my place of stay around 9 o'clock and crashed into a heated bed. the next day (thursday) i went clothes shopping and TV shopping. after five hours of this i decided to go cool off in the ocean. upon paddling out some piss-swilling wannabe koby abberton faggot told me "Fucking lid go back to the inside" to which i replied "fucking grandpa go back to your retirement home". what i had said eventually sunk in. i'll tell you right now, he wasn't a happy chappy. yesterday i drove home via pyramids in mandurah, and scored some super fun, uncrowded waves. now im home and i am looking forward to the next 72 hours.

i have decided to fill you in on Tuesday's near epic North Point session.

*ahem hem*

7.00am: rocked up at box, saw the hewitts and co., then decided instantly that we were going to neg it. we drove to north point (some thought it would be a waste of time), watched feasty get a mega barrel and suited up in 2.76 seconds flat! (dorje)*.

8.00am: i "swam out to see P U R E dude, Nic filming some mad water angles"**, and joined him. some sick shit went down, mainly feasty throwing buckets, josh casey's double barrel and some surfer eating ass***.

10.00am: My first battery ran out so we hit up the store. i got my premium scab skills on and managed to squeeze a pie and some lollies out of the boys. (thanks lads, i will pay you back one day!) after some deep analysis and thinking time we decided that the crowd had reduced enough to make it worth the walk back. after paddling out and waiting for a good hour we called a group meeting. (it definitely wasn't worth the walk back) the time had come to go home......

1.00pm: we had had some lunch, and drove to rivermouth. it looked pretty decent considering it was rivermouth. the waves were hell fun although teeth**** didn't seem to feel the same way. i guess it is understandable as it was his first surf in 3 months. the lads went in, but i stayed out (by this point it was getting darker by the minute) and got to catch up with an old friend of mine. (r.d.)

7.00pm: the last twelve hours of my life had been epic as. i was pleased

State titles stike back II

Last weekend i went to states in Perth with the Purvis brothers. both of them were in the Cadet Boys division (u/16's) and they both made it to the semi-finals, but unfortunately James got knocked then.

i am deeply sorry i haven't posted in a little while. can we move on?

recently i was at Rottnest for a short time, living the high life. now im back, and so is my camera, only this time, with a housing around it. i will show you the housing on the next post, which will arrive either tomorrow or the day after. also included in that post will be a video, but i will not tell you anymore about it.

in other news, today i used my camera and housing for the first time, with good results. at first the footage was shaky but got better as i got used to filming. tom, chucky,james,zac and duke all surfed box while i filmed from the channel. it was clean, 4ft with only 3 other guys out. i feel like i have talked too much already, its late at night and im getting up early to go shooting again tomorrow. so ill get to the business end of things:

i do have some news that i can tell you quickly, my housing will be back either next friday or next saturday! i am pumped.

all i have for you this time round is some black humour, and some info about mitch wooldand's elite bodyboard clinic. for some tips from the man himself, at just $35 straight up and one-time only, there will be mock heats, barbeques and plenty of fun! be there or be octagonal! gas car park, 7am, saturdays.

state round

State round

- as most of you would already know, the first state round was held at Mandurah Wedge last weekend. overall the comp was a great success, with a sausage sizzle fundraiser, giveaways and a huge proffesional turn-out. check the results here.

- so as it turns out, tom ended up doing pretty good for his first comp, and finished 3rd.

In other news,
- i made a flyer/advert for forward films and it turned out ok.(click to enlarge)

-it won't be long now before the good wave season kicks in, i have my housing and im living the good life.

why is Monday a public holiday?

beats me. all i know is that it was toms birthday, and also "Clean-Up Australia Day" on Sunday.
